Hints for operating ID Devices under Windows® XP
You are using ID Mouse Professional software version 5
The software 5.x supports XP, the driver provided is XP compatible! However, not all new XP functions such as Remote Access and Fast User Switch are supported. If you really need these functions, we recommend to use login/network access products from our SDK customers.
You are using Siemens ID Mouse Professional software version 3 or 4
Please upgrade your software to version 5. We strongly recommend this not only because of the additional functions, but also because of improved security. Version 5.0 will work both with the ball ID Mouse and the ID Mouse Professional from Siemens. Version 5.4 additionally supports all FingerTIP ID devices from Cherry.
You are using Siemens ID Mouse software version 1 or 2
These software versions had not been released for the market. Should you recently have bought a very cheap standard ID Mouse with these software versions, e.g., via ebay, this will most likely be a pre-series sample! In fact, you may upgrade to version 5 of the ID Mouse Professional software. However, no guarantee for a proper function of the hardware is assumed.
Internet Explorer 7 not compatible with PasswordCenter!
Do not upgrade your Internet Explorer to version 7 if you are operating the PasswordCenter!
The PasswordCenter is not cooperating with Internet Explorer 7. For that reason we recommend to purchase TrustedDesk Logon+ Local which provides a new Single-Sign-On tool.
ID Devices under Windows® Vista
Our present ID Device login software (version 5) will not be adaptable to Windows Vista!
Since Windows Vista comes with a completely revised login method, our ID Device software will not be upgradable. We recommend to purchase TrustedDesk Logon+ Local.
ID Devices under Windows® XP Service Pack 3
Service Pack 3 for Windows XP generates an MMC failure
Because of a bug in Service Pack 3 of Windows XP, a snap-in failure may appear when opening the User Administration of ID Device software 5.x. Solution: Choose option 3 of the message window. Then the error message shouldn't reappear.
