Known bugs of BioProtect version 5
| After uninstallation,
the BioProtect icons remain in the WinWord task menu |
Workaround: tbd
| Error message
"No fingerprint registered" |
This error appears when opening a protected
file or saving a file with fingerprint if BioProtect cannot identify the
domain name of the user because the "Client for Microsoft Networks" has
not been installed. When saving the BioProtect window shows "\\ERROR\<user
name>".
Solution: Install the "Client for
Microsoft Networks".
| BioProtect does
only work together with a German or English MS Office version |
Solution: Use PasswordCenter together
with the file encryption freeware Cryptext
instead of BioProtect when you need another Office version.
| Error message
"Wrong password" |
This message appears when opening an office
file which has been protected under another user or domain name. This may
happen, e.g., when user and/or domain name has changed during a re-installation
of the operating system.
Solution:Always
back up the passwords which have been created automatically by BioProtect
and check them immediately to avoid typing errors. For any of the 6 combinations
(Word, Access, Excel)/(read protection, read/write protection) there is
a fixed password which depends on the operating system, the user name,
and the domain name, but not on the file itself!
