Known bugs of BioProtect version 5

After uninstallation, the BioProtect icons remain in the WinWord task menu

Workaround: tbd

Error message "No fingerprint registered"

This error appears when opening a protected file or saving a file with fingerprint if BioProtect cannot identify the domain name of the user because the "Client for Microsoft Networks" has not been installed. When saving the BioProtect window shows "\\ERROR\<user name>".
Solution: Install the "Client for Microsoft Networks".

BioProtect does only work together with a German or English MS Office version

Solution: Use PasswordCenter together with the file encryption freeware Cryptext instead of BioProtect when you need another Office version.

Error message "Wrong password"

This message appears when opening an office file which has been protected under another user or domain name. This may happen, e.g., when user and/or domain name has changed during a re-installation of the operating system.
Solution:Always back up the passwords which have been created automatically by BioProtect and check them immediately to avoid typing errors. For any of the 6 combinations (Word, Access, Excel)/(read protection, read/write protection) there is a fixed password which depends on the operating system, the user name, and the domain name, but not on the file itself!
